Room 10's Art Gallery

Lately Miss Park has been thinking that our room looks like an Art Gallery! We have so many beautiful artworks around our room and we love to show them off!

These are our leaves that we created in Sewing last term!

Our beautiful flowers were created in Term 1...

...when we were learning about painting and using colours...

...to blend and create new colours!
Our Term 2 focus was sewing, which resulted in some beautiful art and lots of lovely leaves to show off on our wall.

In Term 1 we were learning all about painting and we used our paintbrushes to blend and melt our colours together. Some of us found this easy and some of us found it hard, but we all had fun!

This term we are doing Collage as our major focus for Art. We created these amazing silhouette using our photographs and strips of yellow and blue papers. We had some special blue foil that we used to add a different texture. Miss Park put our silhouettes up on black paper and laminated them so they really stand out against our windows!

Technology

We are working on a super cool unit this term that centers around Technology, but also links into Art, Leadership, Health and Social Studies. We are looking at the Christchurch organisation Gap Filler and what they do to fill gaps left in the central city from the earthquakes. Keep an eye out for our profiles on different Gap Filler Sites around the city!

Handwriting Fun

We have been practicing our flicks and soon we will start linking. It's really great working so hard in class but sometimes it's fun to change settings too! We took the chalk out to practice our Handwriting on the concrete. Here are some pictures for you to enjoy!

Harmony's Homework!

Miss Park loves it when we put an extra big effort into our homework and this week Harmony did just that! Using items from around home that weren't needed anymore she completed one of the extra activities -

Wasterbusters!
Design an item using recycled goods. Explain what you have used and what is important about your creation.

She used tinfoil to create this very effective piece of Art. Here's what Harmony had to say about it;

What I have created-
A space station where all the stuff that they used and collected was from outer space.

Recycled products used-
Cardboard from an old box
Plastic lids
Tin foil
Metal washers
Plastic cylinder
Plastic caps
Plastic tubes
Screws

Why is it important-
Because I found junk and turned it into something special

Well done Harmony, we think your creation is pretty special too!

Check back again soon for more excellent work!
