Hampstead School

To support the new Museum and Art Gallery we are contributing to the time capsule which will be buried. We are including a school wide photo (as soon as we can take one!) and some thoughts from each class about Hampstead School as it is today. We had to condense our ideas down quite a bit, but here is what Room 10 thinks about Hampstead School;

Hampstead School welcomes lots of different people. We are proud to represent out school in our school uniform. Mr Melrose is a great leader, so are the teachers. We raise money for the school and community to improve. Mr Melrose makes sure we have what we need and our caretaker Rose fixes things for us. Hampstead School is a great place to learn. We have loits of sport opportunities. We have lots of different class for Year 1 - 6. There are 15 classes at our school. We can go on camp in Year 6. At school our teachers help us learn.

So that's what Room 10 thinks about Hampstead School. We hope you love it as much as us!

Supporting Maths at Home

A big thank you to everyone who managed to make it to the interviews, I really appreciate you taking the time to pop in. Quite a few parents talked about wanting some more ideas on how to support Maths at home. The NZMaths website has a sections for families which may give you some ideas on what you can do at home. You can find this section here.

We also use a website called Interactive Sites for Education. This is basically a blog which someone has created and added all the educational games they have found onto it. I haven't been able to look at all the games available but we have begun exploring it during class and there are lots of games at lots of levels to enjoy. There are also games for other subjects aside from Maths, including Writing, Typing and Social Studies.

Have a look around and let me know what you think, I'd love to hear how it's going!

Shhhh... We're being quiet!

Phew! Morning tea sure is busy! We love running around and having fun with our friends! We also love coming into our cosy classroom and winding down with some silent reading and drawing. What a relief after the excitement of playtime to relax with a boom or picture before we launch into Writing and Maths!

Library time!

We love the library! We love looking at lots of books and reading together. We love Mrs Pritchard, who is very helpful and knows a lot about books. She helps us find new and interesting books.

We also love to share new books we have found and tell others about then.

We particularly like joke books. Bailee told us a joke -

"Knock knock"
"Who's there?"
"Ronny"
"Ronney who?"
"Ronney nose, quick I need a tissue!"

Our Reading groups are all named after Roald Dahl books and sometimes we find the books we are named after! We love Roald Dahl!

We listen really well when others are sharing because we love learning about books so much!
